Today I was talking to a good friend who is also very active with his blog, however he is a super blogger who can write at minimum 5 to 10 blog posts per day for multiple clients he also happens to be an expert with search engine optimization. During our conversation I asked him if he personally typed out every blog post that he does for a client much to my surprise he said John I use a software program called Dragon NaturallySpeaking it is speech recognition software.
At first thought the name of the software sounded like some new sequel to a video game for Xbox or PlayStation. I did a search on the web for this software and came across the company’s website which is a company that goes by the name of Nuance. On the company website the first thing that stood out to me was that it’s the world’s best-selling speech recognition software. Initially I thought that the software was built for strictly dictating documents, however you can search the web create emails and pretty much take complete control of your computer with your voice using commands.
After reading several reviews on the company’s website along with third-party websites the ratings were stellar. After I conducted about an hour or two worth of due diligence I decided to download a free trial version of Dragon.
The installation of the software took 20 to 30 minutes, but was well worth it. Creating an email with Microsoft Outlook was a breeze and I was really taken aback by how fast Dragon Naturally Speaking could dictate what I was saying within the email. Although I am a Bostonian I don’t have much of a Boston accent, however I decided to have a little bit of fun with the Dragon software and put my best Boston accent on full throttle. I opened up Microsoft Word and decided to use words like car, bar, supper and of course the most famous of all “I parked my car in the Harvard Yard”. Simply put Dragon Naturally Speaking did a phenomenal job and performed everything I said without error and no “R’s” missed.
John’s new favorite software is Dragon and why you might ask? I was able to put out a 10 page executive summary in less than 15 minutes and in my book that saved me a significant amount of time and as we all know time is money. For those of you that are reading this blog post I spoke to Dragon Naturally Speaking and Dragon in turn used its amazing technology to put this blog post together.
I will definitely be blogging more for not only myself but for a few select clients that I manage on a day-to-day basis. If you are interested in learning more about the software and trying it you can visit the official website for Dragon NaturallySpeaking at www.nuance.com I would recommend you take advantage of the free trial that they offer for either your Windows PC or Apple computer. There is also a version for tablets most specifically the iPad.
